Purdy, Barry BA (Mod), PDipl, EPA, CPA, RPA, RTMA, CTMA

 

Barry is a co-founder of PURDYLUCEY. Barry has a primary degree in Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Food Science from University College Cork.

Barry has over 15 years experience advising clients on Intellectual property matters, including four years as an in-house patent counsel in Unilever and two years as a senior attorney in a UK private practice. During this time, Barry has advised clients in relation to cases before the European Patent Office Boards of Appeal and Enlarged Board of Appeal, and the UK High Court.

Barry specialises in patent drafting and prosecution, and intellectual property transactions, in biotechnology, life sciences, and food science. His areas of expertise include protection of therapeutics and diagnostics for cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular disease, and the protection of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of disease and drug response. His portfolio of clients includes Irish Universities, Irish and US Medical Schools, and Irish and European SME’s.

Barry is a European Patent Attorney, a Chartered UK Patent Attorney, a Registered Patent Agent, a Registered Trade Mark Agent, a Community Trade Mark and Design Attorney, and a past member of the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) Committee.
