Lucey, Michael BE (Hons), EPA, RTMA & CTMA

 

Michael is a co-founder of PURDYLUCEY. Michael is a European Patent Attorney and graduated from University College Cork with an honours degree in Electrical Engineering. Following his graduation, Michael worked with the National Microelectronics Research Centre (now the Tyndall Institute) gaining experience in the development of software applications for measuring instruments, and the design of components for ASIC circuits.

Michael has over 10 years experience in Intellectual Property and specialises in the drafting and prosecution of patents in the fields of electronics, software, telecommunications and optoelectronics. Michael has extensive experience in telecommunications prosecuting several patent applications in the field of GSM, CDMA, WCDMA OFDMA, MEMs and HSPA networks. Michael has acted for large High Tech US multinational corporations before the European Patent Office (EPO), managing substantial patent portfolios and prosecuting several important European patents in the field of telecommunications. On the domestic front Michael has acted for successful ICT Irish based SMEs.

Michael has extensive experience in prosecuting patent applications at the EPO including Oral proceedings, as well as preparing and filing Notices of Opposition at the EPO.

Michael lectures on Intellectual Property for local Irish Universities and is a member of EPI, Irish Patents Law Committee, and the IEEE. Michael is also an Irish Registered and Community Trade Mark Attorney and an Associate member of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.
