Jack Robinson
B.Sc (Hons), PhD
Prior to entering the Intellectual Property profession, I graduated with a primary honour’s degree in Analytical Sciences from Dublin City University in 2017. I worked as an Analyst in the State Laboratory, looking into many different samples focusing on Animal Feedingstuff and Fertilizers. After my undergraduate degree, I completed a PhD in Physical Chemistry (entitled “Microcavity Array Supported Lipid Bilayers Biomimetic Platform for Study of Membrane Associating Proteins and Membrane-Protein Aggregation”) with Professor Tia Keyes, again in Dublin City University.
My PhD was a great multidisciplinary body of work dealing with areas of physical and analytical chemistry including fluorescence spectroscopy, electrochemical spectroscopy, microscopy, lithography, and biochemistry for studying proteins and protein aggregation in healthy and diseased lipid bilayer states. My research focused on diseased states including Cancers and Alzheimer’s. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and I also presented my work at conferences on a national and international level. I have collaborated with many international universities throughout my time in research.
Because of the diverse scientific background I have achieved, I plan to enhance my knowledge further by drafting and prosecuting Irish, UK and European patent applications in many fields including Life Science (Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals etc.) Material Science, Medical Devices and Mechanical Devices.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on hikes, traveling, coaching rugby, and am a collector of whiskeys.
I am excited to be entering the world of Intellectual Property as a Trainee European Patent Attorney with PurdyLucey.
