Patent Attorney

Following my graduation in 1992, with an honours degree in Physics with Microelectronics from the University of Dundee, I worked in a Tech Start-up, then a College of Education working on multi-media technology.  Thereafter I completed a Master’s Degree in Biological Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy.

I entered the profession in 1997, working in the IP department of a large UK company, then in private practice from 2000 to the present date, firstly as a technical assistant and then as a Director of a medium-sized firm of Patent Attorneys in Scotland.

I have advised a wide range of clients from large multinational companies in the engineering, electronics, and automotive industries to Universities and SMEs.

I specialise in the drafting and prosecution of patents in the fields of physics & electronics, mechanical engineering and software.  Specifically, this includes battery management systems, fintech, remote sensing and imaging systems, medical devices, lasers, offshore engineering, wind turbines, wave energy systems, packaging, and general mechanical engineering.
